5 Best Sunscreens for Women in Agriculture

rhdRHD Blog

One of the great things about being a women actively involved in the agriculture industry is getting to be outdoors for several hours a day. I think we all agree that it’s a great feeling having the sun on your face, the wind in your hair, and even working up a good sweat while you’re putting in a honest day’s work.

However, being outdoors so often poses a risk for melanoma and skin damage. Before a big day at a show, or working on the ranch, or even just being outdoors gardening, step one is a good sunscreen. Here are some of the favorites from our team of women in agriculture at Ranch House, and some of our fellow cattle ranching friends.

  1. Neutrogena Sport Face

This is Rachel’s favorite daily sunscreen, which was recommended to her initially by her doctor and had great reviews online. Rachel and her daughters use this every day in the summer because it’s SPF 70 but also lightweight and blends in easily and doesn’t sweat off.

  1.  Banana Boat Dry Balance 50+ Spray

This is Taylor Stipe’s go-to for summer activities. She loves the convenience of a spray sunscreen and has found it to be lightweight and very long-lasting.

  1. Origins SPF 40 Energy-Boosting Tinted Moisturizing

Another favorite of our team, because this one is a SPF 40 but is also a tinted moisturizer so it helps give you that sun-kissed glow. We have found this one to be sufficient enough to use as both a sunscreen and a foundation – with no powder even required – for those who tend to wear a little less makeup while working outside. It helps give you a little color but isn’t super heavy.

  1. While you’re at Origins, we also like A Perfect World SPF 40

This is a great oil-free moisturizer with antioxidant-rich White Tea that also prevents the signs of aging and helps correct sunspots. It’s a great sunscreen to start the day with.

  1. Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 40

Super Goop is a luxury beauty product that was first recommended to us by our friend Dee Braman who uses it for herself and her girls. It’s lightweight, waterproof, and SPF 50. You can shop for more of these items at https://supergoop.com/products/everyday-sunscreen.

For any women in agriculture, this month, and every month, let’s make a goal to make a great sunscreen the start of our makeup routine each day. Not only does it provide protection from sunburn, but it reduces skin damage and aging. Whatever sunscreen or moisturizer you choose, always use an SPF of 30 or higher if you will be outdoors for any amounts of time. Learn more about the Skin Cancer Society’s recommended products here.
