Everyone wants to win – that’s a given. But, in most competitive livestock events – there are hundreds of participants, and only one winner. Having a lot of blue ribbons or purple banners on your wall is a tremendous accomplishment. This post is not meant to diminish that at all. But, for every person in the spotlight winning a banner, there are hundreds of other competitors who have also put in the time, the effort, and the dedication to their project who didn’t win a banner that day.
So, for any time that you’ve been disappointed at a show, or a competitive event, remember, here are 30 things that a banner can’t determine:
- Creativity
- Kindness
- Compassion
- Courage
- Determination
- Intelligence
- Preparation
- Passion
- Character
- Love of Animals
- Resilience
- Self Esteem
- Personality
- Grit
- Faith
- Fortitude
- Diligence
- Empathy
- Common Sense
- Work Ethic
- Intuition
- Strength
- Motivation
- Family Support
- Morals
- Wit
- Manners
- Effort
- A Sense of Humor
- Business Skills
- And much more!
So next time that blue ribbon or purple banner is slightly out of your reach, remember, there are some things that are worth more.
