Spring weather is finally here! To many of us, spring means flowers blooming, sunshine shining, and the occasional spring shower raining down.
But to ranchers, spring is a time to evaluate their newest calf crop. Difficult decisions are made on whether to cull or keep calves, plus the anticipated spring branding’s are just about to kick off; a time when ranchers can be proud to place their mark on their livestock.
Branding’s are typically wrought in history and tradition. Today, they have become the perfect occasion to celebrate America’s rich ranching heritage. Many invite close friends and family to help with the day’s work. Some have even begun to reincorporate the chuckwagon. Odds are, no one is going to refuse a delicious chuckwagon meal following a hard day’s work.
Photography has become a popular method to capture and document spring branding’s. Some of my favorite images on Facebook appear right around this time. Rather than keep them to myself, I’ve decided to share some of them with you!
