Never judge a ranch woman by her work clothes…

Ranch House Designs, Inc.RHD Blog

Last week, I had one of those moments that was equal part humbling and equal part hilarious.

It was Friday morning, and with our sale coming up at BRC, I’ve been spending a lot of time at the ranch preparing. I had spent time the whole morning at the barn. Working cattle, cleaning cobwebs, scrubbing floors, washing doors, and tidying everything up.

I was hot, sweaty, covered in dust, and definitely not looking my best. No makeup. Old college t-shirt. Hair pulled back. Just a real-life ranch morning.

That same afternoon, I had to stop by one of my real estate buildings in town to check on an issue. The building happens to be rented by a salon — one I don’t personally use and rarely step foot in.

As I walked in through the back door, one of the stylists – probably twenty years old, full glam, eyelashes and all — gave me the up-and-down look, turned up her nose, and said in a super snippy tone,

“Oh hello ma’am, do you need to make an appointment to get your hair done?”

I looked her dead in the eye and said, “No. I actually own this building.”

And kept walking.

Now, I’ll admit — it made me mad. I thought, I literally own the building you work in, and you’re looking down on me because of my appearance.

But, it made me laugh at the same time.

Isn’t that the life of an entrepreneur?

One minute you’re sweeping floors and fixing toilets, and the next you’re leading a team, closing deals, or running an empire.

It’s not always glamorous. It’s not always easy. But it’s grit that keeps you going.

Grit doesn’t come from good hair or fancy clothes — it comes from showing up, figuring it out, and doing the hard stuff no one else will.

At Ranch House Designs, we get that. We’ve been there — sweaty, exhausted, and still giving our all to build something that matters.

And unlike that snobby hairdresser, we’ll never judge you for what your business looks like right now.

Your logo might be dated.
Your website might be rough.
Your brand might need a little polish — and that’s okay.

It probably looks like that because you’ve been working. And maybe, putting your marketing aside just like I put hair and makeup aside that day. You’ve been doing what has to be done.

That’s why we’re here.
To help you look like the professional you already are — because behind every great brand is someone who worked their tail off to build it.

Keep your grit. We’ll handle the glam.

So what do you think?

Do I need a makeover?

Have a great day and keep smiling!
